After planning the remainder of our projection timeline with internal deadlines, we contacted Mr. Scott in hopes of both shadow and consult him about or preliminary schematics for our workout equipment and spikeball court. During the buffer time of actually meeting with Mr. Scott, we designed and calculated the dimensions need to have optimal conditions for our spikeball court, and designed a cylinder with a depth of 3 inches, and anticipate using 9 equally sized planks to encapsulate the sand, and would essentially create a nonagonal cylinder. Details of our schematic are illustrated below:

We then calculated the total amount of sand need to fill the void within the nonagonal cylinder, and calculated that we would require 65 cubic feet of sand. Although we have not yet found out yet where we could get the sand, Mr. Scott responded to our email saying that there might be excess sand from the baseball fields that we could use for our project, and resolve the lack of sand source for our project. Promptly after we met with Mr. Scott, and had shown the exact same presentation that we gave to Mrs. Zilenski to catch him up as to what we were planning on doing. He said that he would be glad to work with us, and was available for him to both advise us during the remainder of our project and was courteous enough for him to let us shadow him to see how to properly use power tools and how to be a carpetner.

  1. Mel, it looks like you and your group members have made great progress on your project. I'm glad that you are working with Ms. Zielinski to create a scope and timeline for the equipment you are planning to create. Where are you planning to put the Spikeball court? I'm just tring to imagine it! Soon, there will be many happy Spike-ballers who will appreciate all your hard work. That's generous of Mr. Scott to help you with the construction and for the tip of where you can find free extra sand to fill in the gaps. Keep up the great work! I look forward to meeting with you next week.
